Faculty Celebrates 2010 Convocation
754 new graduates of Western’s Faculty of Education celebrated their achievements on Friday, June 18, with their families, friends and faculty members. At one of the largest Convocations in the history of the Faculty, 6 Ph.D., 34 Masters in Education, 34 Diplomas in Education and 680 Bachelor of Education diplomas were awarded at Western’s 295th Convocation ceremony.
The Right Honourable Paul Martin accepted an honorary degree at the ceremony and, during his address, told the new graduates that he “cannot think of a profession that is more important than the one that lies before you. There is a great world out there and it is yours to make better.” Western President Amit Chakma reinforced Mr. Martin’s words, saying “education is the quintessential infrastructure for everything else.”
Following in the Faculty tradition, 50 new graduates accepted special awards at a lunch hosted by the Faculty of Education.
On behalf of the Western’s Faculty of Education, warmest congratulations go to all of our graduates and award winners.
