About Our Teacher Education Program

Western University’s Teacher Education program combines academic study with extensive school-based experience to prepare future educators for success in today’s classrooms.

Our 12-month program begins each September and follows the rhythm of the school year, allowing you to develop practical teaching skills while building strong professional connections.

Program Highlights

  • Choose the teaching division that aligns with your career goals.
  • Complete practicum placements in diverse school communities across our network of partner school boards.
  • Gain significant classroom experience through practicum placements throughout the program.
  • Customize your learning through division-specific coursework and teaching areas.

Program Format

The Initial Teacher Education program is completed over 12 months:

  • Terms 1 and 2: In-person instruction on Western’s campus
  • Term 3: Online learning (synchronous and asynchronous)
  • Practicum placements: In-person school-based experience

Learn. Practice. Connect. Inspire. Start your teaching journey at Western this September.

NOTE: All Bachelor of Education programs in Ontario are moving to a 12-month, three-term model. The program structure presented here is pending approval by Western University Senate.
