Curriculum Studies & Studies in Applied Linguistics
Important Notes:
- MA & PhD students must complete a program planning form with their supervisor, then enroll themselves in the courses they choose. Professional MPEd students will be enrolled in their mandatory courses by our staff a couple of weeks before the start of classes. Emails with more information will be sent to students just before enrollment opens each term.

- In certain circumstances, students from another program may take a priority or restricted course, space permitting (e.g. MA student taking an MPEd course as an elective). Contact your Graduate Affairs Assistant for more information and assistance with enrolling.
- Students can take a maximum of 3 classes per term. To request permission to register for an additional 4th course, students must contact their Graduate Affairs Assistant.
- Students do not need to enroll in milestones. They do not appear as a class in Student Centre but will show on students' academic records once completed.
- Independent Reading & Research (IRR) courses must be approved by the Graduate Programs Office before students can be enrolled. These are completed individually with a supervisor and do not have assigned class times. Please review the IRR Guide and pay specific attention to the application deadlines.

2024 Fall Timetable
Classes begin the week of September 9, 2024 and run for 12 weeks. There will be no classes on (no activities or assignments can be scheduled) Monday, October 14, 2024.
Last day to enroll yourself in a Fall 2024 Term course: September 6, 2024
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Monday, September 30, 2024 (designated non-instructional day; no classes, activities or assignments can be scheduled)
Last day to drop a Fall 2024 term course without appearing on student transcript: September 30, 2024
Last day to drop a Fall 2024 Term course without academic penalty: October 31, 2024
2025 Winter Timetable
Classes begin the week of January 6, 2025 and run for 12 weeks.
There will be no classes on the Monday, February 17, 2025 (Family Day) and March 10 – 14, 2025 (Week of March break) holidays in the term (no activities or assignments can be scheduled)
Last day to enroll yourself in a Winter term course: January 6, 2025
Last day to drop a Winter 2025 term course without appearing on student transcript: January 31, 2025
Last day to drop a Winter course without academic penalty: February 28, 2025
2025 Summer Term (Summer Session & Intersession) Timetable
**There are two sessions over the Summer Term - 1. Intersession and 2. Summer Session**
Intersession classes begin the week of May 5, 2025. Professional MPEd courses run for 8 weeks online, with the exception of MPEd in TESOL courses that are offered onsite. Research Intensive (MA & PhD) courses will run in May and June onsite. There will be no classes on May 19, 2025 (Victoria Day).
Summer Session classes begin the week of July 7, 2025. Professional MPEd courses run for 8 weeks online and Research Intensive (MA & PhD) courses will run in July and August onsite. There will be no classes on July 1, 2025 (Canada Day) and August 4, 2025 (Civic Holiday).
