Mustangs win big during annual Teacher Appreciation Football Game
Faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends donned their finest shades of purple as Faculty of Education Dean Donna Kotsopoulos and Western Mustangs Football Team Head Coach Greg Marshall, BEd ’85, hosted our annual Teacher Appreciation Football Game.
Kotsopoulos and Marshall, who are both Western Education alumni themselves, host the game each year in honour of teachers in our community.
This year’s event was made extra special thanks to a pre-game reception with snacks and refreshments that was graciously sponsored by London Executive Sedan Service.
The Western Mustangs were set to face the Windsor Lancers in a highly anticipated match at Western Alumni Stadium.
The Mustangs battled it out against a familiar face in Lancers Head Coach Jean-Paul Circelli, who previously served as the offensive line coach for Western and is a Faculty of Education alum.
Our hosts were kept busy on and off the field, with Kotsopoulos and Marshall mingling with guests prior to kickoff. Many of our current Education students also joined in on the fun to lend their support and meeting our alumni.
Kotsopoulos would later throw the opening coin toss while Marshall led his team to a crushing 46-5 victory.
The game featured key performances from our current Education students and Mustang football all-stars Richard Adubouffor, Keon Edwards, and Brian Garrity.
To help our Dean get ready for the game, the three future teachers took time to teach Kotsopoulos some key football lessons. You can rewatch their gridiron tutoring session on our Faculty’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_L30cQtOl8
Our deepest thanks to everyone joined us. We look forward to hosting you again next year.
Go Mustangs!
