Faculty in the Media

July 14, 2011

Faculty members from Education continue to receive media attention, with a flurry of features in recent weeks!

Dr. Peter Jaffe, Professor and Academic Director of the Centre for Research and Education on Violence Against Women and Children (CREVAWC) was interviewed by the London Free Press on June 30; the timely topic was teen behavior, with its sometimes tragic consequences.  See Peter’s comments here.

Another topic relevant to young boys was discussed by Dr. Michael Kehler in an article in the Free Press on July 2.  Dr. Kehler questioned the wisdom of the current trend towards educating boys differently and separately from girls in a bid to improve their achievement levels. Read what Michael has to say on this topic here.

On a lighter note, Dr. Cornelia Hoogland, Professor and well known local poet, was interviewed by the London Free Press on July 7. The topic was the reopening of the King Street footbridge with implications going far beyond the practical ones of transportation. Click here to read Cornelia’s article.

Dr. Ron Hansen had an article published in the summer 2011 issue of Education Canada. Dr. Hansen urges us to consider the contradictions and failings of formal schooling in his article.

Last but not least, Dr. Greg Dickinson and Dr. Alan Pearson were quoted in the July 9 edition of the Toronto Sun in an article discussing religion in public schools.  Read the article here.
