Research in Education Symposium
The inaugural “Research in Education Symposium” held on April 14th welcomed over 75 guests from the Faculty and community to celebrate the research being pursued by the Masters and Doctoral students. Forty-five pieces of research were shared in poster, roundtable and paper presentations.
Dr. L. Miller, Vice-Provost (Faculty of Graduate and Post-Doctoral Studies) was the invited speaker for the occasion. She reflected on the “high caliber of the research” at the Faculty and how her attendance at events such as the symposium help to make her job “the best one at Western”.
The symposium was organized and hosted by the graduate students with support from the Graduate Education office, and the Society of Graduate Students. The steering committee is already planning next year’s event in the hope that 2011’s symposium will involve even more graduate students and offer them the opportunity to share their work in a collegial, supportive atmosphere.
