Curriculum Studies and Studies in Applied Linguistics
I am a PhD candidate in Curriculum Studies. My research interests include multimodal literacy pedagogy and social semiotics, as situated within elementary curriculum studies. Currently, I am examining how semiotic demands are placed on students across disciplines in classroom curricula. My research is being supervised by Dr. Rachel Heydon.
My master's research, supervised by Dr. Rob Simon (OISE/UT), explored educators' opinions on the affordances and constraints of semiotic theory in Canadian and Finnish classrooms. Results were used to create recommendations for how to implement semiotic theory in Ontario elementary classrooms.
My current academic service includes graduate student mentorship.
