I completed my second master’s degree at Western University in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in 2019. As an English language instructor with extensive experience spanning over 12 years, I continued my career as an Ontario Certified English Language Teacher and Teacher Trainer at various institutes in London, Ontario, following graduation from Western.

Throughout my career, I have worked closely with international students and newcomers in Canada, assisting them in overcoming language barriers. I have facilitated workshops as a teacher trainer and presented at conferences across Ontario.

Recognizing the inclusion challenges faced by newcomers and international students, I pursued further education at the Faculty of Education at Western University to obtain my PhD in Critical Policies, Equity, and Leadership Studies.

Having completed coursework in critical policy analysis and globalization in education, I successfully defended my thesis proposal in the spring of 2023. My thesis focuses on critically analyzing inclusion policies related to multilingual newcomer learners in Ontario school boards.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I have been actively involved in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives. I served as a member of the EDI committee and the Truth and Reconciliation sub-committee at the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, Chair of the EDI Committee at the Education Graduate Student Association at Western, and as the graduate students’ representative on the Faculty of Education’s EDI committee.
