About Us

As part of its strategic planning over the past decade, the Faculty of Education has expanded its involvement in Indigenous Education.  An Indigenous (formerly Aboriginal) Education Office was established in 2008 and a Director was appointed that year. In January 2021, a full-time staffing position – Indigenous Program Coordinator – was added to support the Director in meeting Indigenous strategic priorities within the Faculty of Education and to provide support and space to all Indigenous students within the Faculty.

In addition to serving Indigenous students, faculty and staff members, Western’s Indigenous Education Office is invested in working in collaboration with University partners and Indigenous communities to develop strong relationships with local, provincial, and national organizations along with First Nations communities in the region of southwestern Ontario.
