Putting theory into practice

October 10, 2010

738 teacher candidates from Western's Faculty of Education will find themselves at the front of the classroom for the first time on Tuesday, October 12, as they begin their first school practicum experience.

The teacher candidates will be in the classrooms of eight school boards across South-Western Ontario, from Cambridge to Sarnia. Supervised by their Associate Teacher, students will spend this first of the three practicum periods actively observing for two thirds of the time and teaching for the remaining time. A total of 41 Faculty Advisors will also be onsite working with the Associate Teachers to ensure that our teacher candidates are provided with a balanced pedagogical and professional perspective while on practicum.

Good luck to all our teacher candidates!
