Performers, faculty and staff pose for a photo on stage inside the Faculty of Education's Auditorium.

Some of our most talented teacher candidates took to the stage last month as our Education Students’ Council (ESC) hosted its inaugural ESC Talent Show.

Faculty, staff, students, family and friends filled the audience as teacher candidates performed a variety of acts including singing, rapping, dancing and comedy.

“I am so proud of all the students who got on stage and performed in front of their peers,” said talent show judge and Teacher Education Program Coordinator, Jeren Balayeva-Sawyer.

“They allowed themselves to be vulnerable and it takes courage.”

Summer El Sayed, a teacher candidate who serves as the ESC’s Year 1 Representative, planned the event and organized it with help from other ESC members Emily Anna Terlizzese, VP of Social Events, and Sarah Ahmed, VP of Communications.

El Sayed said the talent show was one of the main events she had in mind when she was first elected to the ESC.

“The event, in my opinion, was amazing,” she added.

“It was a nice break from the business of our schedules and a fun way to learn about other people's talents. I hope Teachers Got Talent continues to be a big event for the Faculty of Education.”
