The Faculty of Education has created a new bursary for Associate Teachers to thank them for their dedication to teacher candidates during the pandemic.

The Associate Teacher Bursary will help cover tuition to the Master of Professional Education program (MPEd) for September 2022 admission. In total, it’s worth $2,000 over two years.

“The pandemic has been very challenging for teachers,” Associate Dean for Teacher Education, Kathy Hibbert said. “It’s our way to acknowledge their commitment to education and to help support their ongoing education.”

Associate Teachers must also apply to the graduate program and use their bursary for one of the following fields of study:

  • Curriculum and Pedagogy
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Educational Leadership
  • Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice
  • Mathematics Education

“If they served with us as an Associate Teacher, they qualify for the bursary,” Hibbert said. “In addition, there isn’t a limit to the number of bursaries we will award.”

All Associate Teachers who apply for MPEd admission for September 2022 will automatically be considered for the bursary.

The MPEd application deadline is July 31.
