Dr. Vicki Schwean gives keynote address at Children's Aid Society's Bright Futures Breakfast

Dr. Vicki Schwean, a child psychologist and Dean of Western's Faculty of Education, delivered these numbers today as part of her keynote address at the Bright Futures Breakfast hosted by the Children's Aid Society (CAS) of London and Middlesex. The breakfast raises funds for the Bright Futures Bursary Fund, which helps CAS youth pursue post-secondary education. For Schwean, working to change these types of statistics is a vitally important mission.

There are more than 150 different languages spoken among India's indigenous tribal minorities, but Hindi and English, the country's two official languages, are not among them. What's more, until this year out these 150 different languages, the Indian government recognized only two.

John Szasz fell in love with teaching after years of donating his time to working with kids. "I was always a pretty active volunteer," he said. "I worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters, in group homes, even at my old high school - I just loved connecting with people."

Family, friends, and faculty members gathered at Alumni Hall on the morning of Friday, June 13 to celebrate the 644 Faculty of Education students graduating at Western University's 303rd Convocation ceremony. 56 students graduated from Graduate Education programs, and 588 students graduated from the Teacher Education program.

Times have definitely changed. The growth of international schools has spawned ever-greater demand for high quality international schoolteachers. In turn, more program options have begun to emerge.
