Graduating students from the Master of Education in Aboriginal Leadership program launched their book Woven Words for Indigenous Education at the David Chu International Centre Friday, June 14, following their convocation ceremony.

Attendance at the event was outstanding and included faculty, friends, family, and members of the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation, with whom Western Education partners to offer the program.

As part of their project work, each student authored one chapter of the book, resulting in a diverse compilation of material exploring aboriginal culture, successes, and lessons for overcoming barriers in education for aboriginal students.

The highlight of the event was program director Dr. Rebecca Coulter welcoming the twelve graduates to the stage in the order they appear in the book and announcing the title of their chapter as they joined their classmates for recognition. Following the proceedings, books were handed out and the authors – still in their graduation gowns - posed for photographs.
